Shocking Truth: Goals Hindering Other Goals
Even though you've set these goals, if you find it challenging to take action and almost a year has passed, you might be wondering... Well, if that's you, it's possible that a hidden agenda of yours is interfering with your primary goals.
What does a hidden agenda mean? If you're curious, keep reading.
A hidden agenda refers to things you are aiming for or desiring unconsciously. Without you realizing it, you might be heading toward those goals. For example, you say you want to lose weight, but somewhere deep down, if you're secretly thinking, "I want to indulge in lots of sweets!"—you might end up succumbing to that hidden goal or desire.
Gasp! Maybe you've had a hunch somewhere along the way... So, does that mean you can't achieve the goal of "losing weight" in the end? If that thought crossed your mind, worry not.
Just becoming aware of this hidden agenda can significantly realign your primary goals. You can also change the order of importance or emphasize your primary goal to make it easier to overcome the hidden goals or desires.
For instance, there's often talk about "losing weight easily." This statement encompasses the primary goal of "losing weight" and the hidden goal of "living easily." If you're unaware of the hidden goal and continue without noticing, your actions and habits might lean more toward the "living easily" side.
Ugh... Maybe you felt something like that deep down. In that case, you can take a breath of relief. Just being aware of the hidden agenda makes it much easier to adjust your course toward the primary goal.
You can also try changing the order or focusing more on your primary goal. For example...
People often say, "Lose weight effortlessly." This involves the primary goal of "losing weight" and the hidden goal of "living effortlessly."
If you notice the hidden goal of wanting to live effortlessly, you can say, "Okay, let's first establish the correct diet habits. Once I can do that, I can achieve weight loss easily." This way, you can take control!
The same applies outside of dieting. For instance:
"Make money effortlessly (Want to live easily and make money)" or "Only be friends with kind people (Don't want to get hurt and want to make friends)"
If you have goals like these, initially, you might have to work a bit harder to create a system to make life easier or meet various people to make friends without getting hurt.
However, with clever prioritization, you can achieve both primary and hidden goals. Start by understanding your hidden goals and desires, and be conscious of where you're headed.
